Answers to common questions about SportsMonkey accounts, teams, pickup games, privacy, and support.

Getting Started

How do I create an account?

Tap Get Started, enter your name and email, and complete the sign-up flow. You can also sign in with Google or Apple where available.

How do I join a team?

Open the Teams tab, browse teams in your area, then tap Join or Request depending on whether the team is public or private.

How do I create a team?

Go to Teams, tap Create Team, add your sport, country, city, visibility, and team details. The creator becomes the team admin.

Pickup Games and Challenges

What is an individual pickup game?

An individual pickup game lets solo players join open spots. The admin can host the game, invite friends, split teams, and decide whether they also want to play.

What is a team pickup game?

A team pickup game is a team challenge. A team admin accepts or passes on behalf of the team, and players can then manage their own participation in the scheduled game.

Can a full pickup game still be joined?

Yes. When all playing spots are full, additional players can join standby. If a player leaves, the standby list can be promoted into the game.

Are contribution amounts paid through SportsMonkey?

No. For launch, contribution amounts are informational only. Players and teams coordinate any payment outside the app.

Can I cancel a game I created?

Yes. Open the pickup game or scheduled game and use the explicit cancel game action. Passing on your own participation does not cancel the game.

Privacy and Safety

Who can see my email or phone number?

Other users cannot see your email or phone number. Your display name, profile photo, team role, RSVP status, and participation may be visible to relevant teams and games.

Does SportsMonkey track my location all the time?

No. Location is used only when you choose to search, set, or open game locations. Game venue details may be stored with a game record.

How do I report a privacy or safety issue?

Email info@sportsmonkey.org with details. Include screenshots or game/team names if relevant.

Notifications

What notifications will I receive?

You may receive game invites, challenge responses, reminders, team updates, standby changes, and important service notices.

How do I turn off notifications?

Go to Profile > Notifications to manage notification types. You can also control SportsMonkey notifications from your device settings.

Account and Data

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Go to Profile > Privacy & Security > Delete Account. Your public profile is hidden immediately and underlying data is retained for up to 12 months for legal, dispute, safety, and security reasons.

How do I request a copy of my data?

Email info@sportsmonkey.org. Automated in-app export is not yet available.

Can I change my email address?

Email addresses are used for account identity. If you need help, contact info@sportsmonkey.org.
